About Us
The Janice Luey Dance Co. represents a “for the love of dance” mentality. We have been mentoring and coaching Niagara’s youth since 1972. Miss Nancy is now teaching the third generation of her original students.
While we strive to develop our dancers to the best of their abilities, and put on a well performed recital, what we strive for most is to inspire a love for dance, while fostering friendships that last a lifetime.
Classes are reasonably sized, with a qualified Adult Teacher and Assistant Teacher. Although we are currently a non-competitive dance studio, we expect all students to fully commit to their class time, end of year rehearsals, and year-end recital.
After 30 years at the same space, we expanded and opened the doors to a brand new location for our 2025/2026 season surrounded by past and present students, representatives from the City of St. Catharines and our wonderful dance family.
Miss Nancy
Owner / Artistic Director
Miss Nancy began her dance journey at the tender age of two and a half. Her mom started her in kindertap, and that is where she attributes tap dance as her favourite genre. She studied all styles of dance, and then got the theatre bug, at the age of ten. From then on, throughout her teens, she studied vocal training, with the Royal Conservatory of Music, attaining all grades of syllabus. Nancy has played many leading roles, throughout the Niagara Region, all the while, taking dance and drama workshops from her New York directors. She began her Post-Secondary education at the age of seventeen at Sheridan College studying Musical Theatre. She also studied Dance and Opera in Toronto, landing her first professional song and dance gig, at the age of eighteen.
Janice Luey, Miss Nancy’s big sister, founded the studio in 1972. After twelve years, Janice wanted to try her hand in Toronto, and asked her sister if she would come home and run things in her absence. Miss Nancy did, realized how much she loved teaching and mentoring Niagara’s youth, and acquired the studio from Janice, one year later. Fast forward to today, Miss Nancy just celebrated her fortieth season at the helm of the studio (2024).
To continue her passion today, Miss Nancy teaches Drama and Musical Theatre, among all other styles of dance. She has guest taught at numerous elementary and secondary schools throughout the DSBN, and continues to assist with choreographing school musicals. She has taught off-ice to figure skaters, and has judged many interpretive skating competitions. Miss Nancy has also acted as Chair at the St. Catharines Kiwanis Music Vocal Competitions. Over the years, Miss Nancy has continued her own education and training through workshops in Toronto.
Miss Nancy's motto is "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life"
